We're at 91 Mellor Ave, Catonsville, MD 21228. We are located at the Mews Shopping Center, next to Baltimore Brass Company and Digit All City. There is ample parking in the adjoining parking lot, as well as on the street behind the building.
We welcome ages 18+ in all classes without restriction. Teens between 13-17 can take classes with us on a case by case basis, since we need to know they can operate in an adult environment with maturity.

Short Answer: Constantly Varied Functional Movement performed at High Intensity.

This does not mean we do random stuff as fast as possible and hope we don't die. We vary our workouts so that we can prepare for many different physical challenges, focusing on highly functional movements like squating, lifting, pushing, and pulling. We use a variety of movements so that we get as much exposure to physical challenges as possible.

Every athlete (if you come in, you're an athlete) strives to work at an intensity which is challenging for them, but also able to be undertaken safely. We aim to be Virtuosos, in that everything we do should be as skilled as possible.

We train as generalists using workouts that are always challenging and fun, so that we don't get bored or stagnate. Our athletes want to come to the gym not because they feel guilty if they don't, but because they enjoy the experience. We make sure that everyone is educated and challenged according to their needs, and you are never held to the standard of someone else.

We build on what you can do, safely and effectively.

You are NOT too fat. You are NOT too old. You are NOT too out of shape. Don't make excuses; just try it. The worst scenario don't like it!

Foundations is designed to give you the knowledge you need to participate in CrossFit classes safely and with maximal benefit. If you can demonstrate proficiency in the Foundational CrossFit movements (see below) using an empty barbell (if applicable) without coaching, then we waive the Foundations requirement.

The 9 Foundational CrossFit Movements are:

  • Air Squat
  • Front Squat
  • Overhead Squat
  • Deadlift
  • Sumo Deadlift High Pull
  • Barbell Clean
  • Press
  • Push Press
  • Jerk

Test-out is on a Pass/Fail basis at the discretion of the testing coach. You get two attempts at each movement using a light weight if the move calls for it (usually an empty barbell).

The current fitness standard is a big gym with lots of machines, lots of members, and minimally trained staff. They tend to charge $50/month for access to the equipment, a pat on the head, and a hearty "good luck". With hundreds or thousands of members, they don't need to care at the individual level. As long as your payments go through, you showing up is a secondary concern.

On the other side, you can hire a personal trainer. They're responsible for helping you make and reach your goals, making sure you perform movements safely, and helping you stick to your program. These services can run $100+ per hour, which is outside many peoples' price range.

This is where CrossFit Catonsville comes in. We offer high quality, personalized training to small groups of athletes (~8-10/class) in a structured environment. Every class is led by an experienced, skilled, and knowledgeable coach who will teach you what you need to know to participate in the workout safely and effectively.

If we compare the pricing for 3 hours of training per week and assume we need coaching...

  • Globo Gym ... $50/month = $4.16/hour but you get no training, no follow-up, no assistance, and no one cares if you show up.
  • Personal trainer ... at a low-ball $60/hour that's $720/month for 3 hour/week with planning, education, and accountability.
  • CrossFit Catonsville ... at $170/month (no contract cost) you pay $14.17/hour for 3 classes/week, but you can add more classes at any time for no additional cost PLUS you get personal attention in every workout, a community of friendly athletes, education in every movement, coaches who will call you if you stop coming, and many available class times.

So why are our prices higher? Because we're worth it. This may be crazy, but call us maybe?

Important! These discounted coupons / vouchers may only be used for kickboxing, boot camp, mobility, yoga, or kettlebells classes. They MAY NOT be used for CrossFit, Open Gym, or Foundations classes.
